Caller: I called this number was linked to a computer shut down message, screeming " ..your computer has been hacked, call Microsoft now, don't shut down your computer", I called, it was obviously a problem on the other end, I shut down everything

Caller: Likely Scammer When setting up a new laptop a persistant page appeared with a voice over declaring words to the effect "Your computer has been infected. Do not close the window or shut down your computer as it will infect the Microsoft servers. Call MS Support on the number shown". The number was as above. I called the number and was answered a a distinct foreign accent who tried to instruct me to perform certain commands ont the laptop (ESC and CTRL+R). I hung up. I then received three phone calles from (07) 2143 8791 ext. 2, and (64) 21 326 276. I answered the last (after referring to Reverseau.com) and asked why he was calling from New Zealand to which there was a silent response follwed by a poor excuse. I suggested he was a scammer and he said "well you should hang up". I did.

same as that of July 25 above, only I did: Ctrl Alt Delete, then went to Program Manager. Finding NO MS\AV Activity there, I Rebooted to be on the safe side: and since then found no problems on 4 WS Log-ONs.
