The number is legitimate. As already mentioned by others here, I received an unsolicited text message asking me to verify ID, update employment, income and contact details by 18/12/24. Though instructed to call 1300 360 766, I ended up erring on the side of caution and instead calling the phone number on the back of my card (which turned out to be 'lost & stolen cards,' but I digress). Long story short, we think the message was sent out because the date on my driver's licence had expired. Though I personally wondered if it was all to do with Albo's new digital ID bill. Think about it: how will they identify everyone 16+ online when most don't get ID until 18? Through their bank, perhaps. Not happy Jan! Anyway, I did the update on the spot, over the phone. Mainly the new licence expiry and confirming other existing details. You can find a full explanation, including the phone number and Q&A on listed on their website, the page is titled 'Westpac ID Secure.'

The same SMS says: Update your ID or we will restrict your account. It looks legit, but the problem is I don't have a Westpac account :). So go for it, but I don't believe that it is a good way to contact your customer.

Got a text from this number. Apparently from Westpac. I didn't click on any links but went into the legitimate site and checked alerts and messages - there was nothing. I'll double check by going into a Westpac.
Not a good idea to contact people this way, Westpac.

A text message from Westpac wanted me to "verify my ID", update my employment and income details and contact details, deadline to do so was 2 months away. I couldn't find the number the text message said to call on their website so I sent a copy of the SMS to Westpac to follow up.
