They sent an e-mail quoting this number advising that someone in USA had ordered an iPhone 14 and if it wasn't me (obviously) to ring the number shown above. Cost of item was over $600 AUD, which seemed strange if the orderer lived in USA and the phone was ordered in USA

I got an email from someone saying Amanda Fayette had bought an iphone ($600) on my PayPal account. I reported it as phishing. I don't really understand what the scam is, though. There was no payment taken from my PayPal account. Was I supposed to call them and dispute it or something? Genuinely don't get it!

I rang them and said we are from the police department and we are coming for you. :-)

I too have received the same type of email. Also for the black iPhone 14 pro for $699.99 through eBay in a PayPal "Invoice". The HELP number is (02) 8005 5816. The person who "purchased" my phone is the same as previously listed in these reports - Amanda Fayette at 425 Urana Rd Lavington NSW

I got a PayPal email Saying a Amanda Fayetteville used my email address and tried to pay with PayPal which I havnt used for 10 years if not more. I can’t even get into my PayPal and put in gogotten passwords it keeps saying there is an erro

I got the same email about Amanda Fayette who lives in Sydney ordering a iPhone on my account.

I too have just received an email from PayPal saying I paid them $669 for an Apple iPhone. Have been calling the number listed for two days, to dispute this order. The number is busy almost 8hrs a day. As a precaution, I closed my PayPal account.

Same number, 649.99 for an iphone 14 pro. searched around. no record or purchase, no record of deducted funds, nothing. typed the "helpline" into google, found this website. the name i got was Amanda Fayette, address in georgia. "seller" US_DIGITAL_SELLER . email, gobbledigook (as in it was random, it didn't actually have the word gobbledigook as the email).

Yes that is how the scam works , you call the number and the scammer then attempts to get your details bank etc. One of the scams from this is they then claim they're funded you too much they will send fake receipts showing this they will say something like I will get into trouble loose my job etc and try to get ypu to transfer the over paued refund back into their account. Or something similar. It is important to never call , ring text back in number provided in email or text even if it seems legitimate or even direct from PayPal or financial institutions.

I’m Australia. Same as above. Received email about Phone purchased for 969.00 through eBay via PayPal for an Amanda Fayette. Call this number if fraudulent. No money has been taken from my account

Same scam, but I called them back 20 times to pi&* them off.
Wish I knew where they’re working from, could pay a visit.

It's all a scam. I've never ordered anything from a PayPal account let alone for that amount of money

Received a similar email this morning from 'PayPal' with an invoice stating that I had purchased at iphone for $969.
The only problem is, I don't have a PayPal account. The phone was meant to be delivered to someone called Amanda Fayette. Definitely a scam, so please watch out.

I got the same email this morning, but her address was different. I forwarded it onto phishing @ paypal.com.au

all emails have contained a receipt in attachments which has stated that I need to contact them about an item I’ve purchased via PayPal and to contact them about.. blablabla

and all have the recurring name - Amanda Fayetteville

I too got a similar email for the purchase of an apple iPhone worth $650 Aus. Turns out it is a scam. Although I did not give them any details, I am worried they will still be able to access my account. Trying to get help is ridiculously difficult especially f you are not tech savvy.
