I went here to get a full set of acrylics replaced. I needed the old acrylic nails removed and a new full set done with colored tips. I was not greeted well when I arrived and didn't feel welcome from the start. I explained to a male technician what I wanted, a full replacement. He then began to cut down my nails, but then started to rip the acrylics off using a French nail tip to get under and painfully force it off. I them stopped him and asked why he was not soaking them in acetone first, as I had researched and found that this was the general practice to remove acrylic nails with limited damage to the underlying natural nail. He did not seem to like this idea, saying it takes too long. However, I insisted and soaked the nails for 30mins. He then did the same with the softened nails and forced them off using a French tip, which ripped up some of my natural nails. That trauma done I figured I was on the home stretch. However, the full set he applied was not done as I have had previously elsewhere. There was little filing and buffing, just gave it a couple swoops with the drill and a swipe with the buffer. The range of colored tips I wad shown was limited (I later noticed there was more options that he did not show me, but it was too late). I asked for the nails to be cut short, he cut them with normal paper scissors, not the clipper tool used in most nail salons and then didn't file them down and didn't ask me how I would like them shaped. I really wanted to get out of there so I paid and left being too shy to cause a fuss, I walked down the mall to nailtastic, the other nail salon in the mall and had them fix them up for me. Perhaps the other technicians at gentle nails are ok, but I definitely will not be returning.
