Complete scam with the new feature of seeming to come from within Australia.
I could recognise this as scam because we're already connected to NBN.
I'm worried about people like my mother-in-law who 1) have NBN facilities installed near them, 2) watch TV adds about phones being disconnected, 3) aren't able to identify the call as a scam and then will panic and be caught by these bastards.

NBN scam

I have just had a call from (08) 8853 2498 claiming that they were from NBN and because NBN is now available in this area that our phone would be disconnected in 24 hours unless I press 1 to speak to one of their technicians. I knew it was a scam and hung up because we don't yet have NBN although work is being done now to connect us. This is nasty because people will get caught up by this.

this number rang my private home number and also tried to get through to me on an other number on the same day, so be aware that they are using different phone numbers to try to contact you.

Recorded message says press 1. Gets through to o/s call centre trying to get card details. I asked for a number to call him back and where he was. He said North Sydney. With an 08 number oh sure. SCAM

Yep, another pre recorded scam, but in really Good English " Hi this is Anne from Australian Broadband", your service will be disconnected, please dial 1 for technician.

Just had this happen to me...................the phone line was very bad and when I asked if he could call back on a mobile he hung up.

same as above claimed from Telstra about the NBN would be disconnected in next 24 hours unless I pressed 1 to talk to the technician. Just hung up ; has to be a scam as I don't have NBN connected.

Same as "Anonymous" except I called back after the 2nd call. No answer, I suspect the poor man only answers his phone if he recognises the answer.

I just had exactly the same thing happen to me. I hung up and contacted my NBN provider, and the call had nothing to do with them

Exactly the same as above. Redialled and call not answered. We got a similar call 2 years ago, which was also a private citizen (disabled pensioner actually) who said his phone number had been "hi-jacked" by some overseas scumbags. He was very distraught!

I also received a pre-recorded call saying it was NBN and they would be disconnecting my landline. I already have NBN connected. Have reported to scamwatch. Didn't call number back or press '1' when asked - I just hung up. Extremely annoying.

Dodgy. I looked up this address on street view & it is out in the middle of woop woop. Person who rang from this number claimed to be from Telstra.... I don't think so !!! Tried to get me to turn on computer, which I don't own, saying it was corrupted.
