Numerous calls from this number. No messages left. I answered today and they hung up

Numerous calls, no message left. Answered today but said nothing, calling party hung up.
It is a relatively new number, could it be a robo call mixed up with the election?

I returned the phone call, number not in service. Have blocked this number.
