Caller: Mastercard/Visa Scammers Robocall saying that $500 has been use to make a purchase on Amazon or eBay. If I wanted to stop it I had to press 1.
Knowing it was a scammer I pressed 1.
Scammer answered and said that $500 had been spent on my Mastercard to buy an iPhone. I stated that I did not buy the iPhone and wanted to stop it.
He wanted me to go to ultraviewer.net and download their Remote Desktop Access program.
I made like I did not know what was going on and read the "about" section to him.
"Ultraviewer helps you control your partners computer to support them as if you were sitting in front of their screen".
I stated that it sounded like he wanted me to download a program that would give him complete access and control of my computer.
He said that it was the only way to send the password and link to me to stop the purchase. I asked why it simply could not be sent to my phone as an sms or email as message. He repeated that the ultraviewer was the only way.
I stated that I would not download the program and allow him to control my computer. He said that it would be their computer that would be controlling it. I said that would be even worse as computers could do things fast enough so that I would not be able to see what was happening.
If he had continued to push it I would have said that my computer was an Amiga 5000 computer running workbench (yes it does exists, but I do not own one, and is sold by a-eon.com) and that there was not a version of ultra viewer for my computer.
I did not get that far. He just gave up and hung up the phone.
Never download anything that ask you to download. They will use it to control your computer and take or leave anything they want. Never go to websites they tell you to go to (I went to the ultra viewer site as I knew it was not a scam site). Never fill in any forms with any access details for your bank account websites, emails, credit cards etc. they will only steal these and use them to take your identity and money.
