Obvious scam attempt. I live in Victoria and every call I receive with an (08) prefix is a scam attempt. I now don't bother to answer any calls with an (08) prefix any more and am none the worse for it. As it is a landline, the telcos should deal with this sort of nuisance.

Definite scammer stating they want details on your recent accident. Had none though.

I suggest you do what I do which is keep them talking for a few minutes then say: "I have been instructed to tell you that while you have been talking the Australia Federal Police have been tracing your call and you can expect a visit from the police very shortly". They hang up and do not call again.

My usual strategy is to pick up the phone but stay silent. In my experience all 'suss' callers disconnect immediately. Most active caller is "Private number" who happens to be Nicole from NBN. Sadly Nicole doesn't disconnect immediately... Why can't the Telcos block these time wasters?

Unfortunately the female caller didn’t want to engage in conversation with my four year old granddaughter who ran to answer the phone so the caller was unable to scam us!

Caller: Scammers Callers wanted to speak to the owner of the computer, I said I owned a computer. She then told me they had received error messages from my computer. I asked how they got my telephone number and she said they got it when I bought the computer. I responded with an incredulous "really?" and she hung up

obvious scam, with the 'click through' piggy-backing on another number... lucky my phone has caller blocking, just block them after they ring.
