Caller: Claiming to be Pay Pal

Incoming call had (08) phone number. Young foreign lady (I think Asian) asked if she was speaking to me (my real name) - I did not acknowledge and asked her who was calling, she replied Pay Pal and asked if I had authorised a transaction for $199.
When I asked her where was she calling from, the line went dead. When I tested the number by ringing back and the call could not be connected.

The line was quite suspicious - firstly there was a delay between my answering and when the speaker came on and was in a rush. Also my answers were echoed back, indicating it was not a normal phone line, I suspect that somebody may have been listening in. The number had the area code of (08) in brackets, which concerned me to start with.

My understanding is that the scammers can put false phone numbers into the call.
But my experience is that they keep changing theses numbers.
I have reveived a large number of scam callers which I then proceed to block and report. That does help, My mobile does identify quite a few scam callers.
