Caller: Says from AGL but they're spam

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!

They're not AGL, they want to offer you 20% discount by asking for your credit card. I don't believe they are affiliated to AGL at all. BEWARE. I offered to make payment arrangements and they hung up.

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!

AGL offering a one time offer of 20% discount if I paid the final bill today. Shame they can't just be decent company and provide the discount of 20% on the charge each month, maybe they would not lose so many customers. Sharks!

Said they were from AGL. Became very rude and told me I was not cooperating when I refused to confirm my identity (they called me!). I told them I would call them back on the number on their website, and he told me that they won't know what this call is about. I ended up hanging up because they were so rude!

It's possibly a debt collection agency on behalf of AGL and as the debt would have been sold to them, it no longer exists with AGL. According to Australian contract law, unless we contract with a debt collector (engage with them) we are not legally bound to pay them anything so therefore the debt has been wiped. Companies CANNOT sell a debt to a debt collector and both the original company and the debt collectors hope that we aren't aware of this so they can both take money from something they most likely never deserved to begin with....! If you ignore them long enough they will give up, but they are most definitely persistent for some time before that happens.
