I just got a call from theses people as well. They pleaded with my girlfrend to let them into our computer.They are clamming that they are working for Windows Microsoft, but are an independent company.I wouldn't give them any details or access.Very strange.Be very careful people.Going to report this to Microsoft & the Police.It sounds like FRAUD.

My sister received a "helpful" call from this number yesterday. Can anyone please advise how this scam can be reported to the police?

I got this call also. Trying to gain access to my computer for the same reasons everyone else has said.

Had my parents-in-law (in rural Vic) call me to ask what I'd thought.  They'd had a call from these guys too, with the same story as above.  I told them to ignore it; they're so obviously scammers.  Googled the number and found this site.This may also be related: a friend of theirs had a very similar call, and were informed that the bank owed them about a thousand dollars in unpaid interest.  All they had to do was send $174 to get the the thousand paid.  A very, very obvious scam, but one that could pull people in.
