I just received a call with recorded voicemail message with exact same details mentioned in this thread. This is the second time he calls. I called the number - rings a few times then goes on hook. How do we stop this?

I also got this call, with the same message. Sounded very dodgy & uneducated, making huge threats about legal action and penalties if I ignored the call. When I called back, hung up after being questioned.

Do not return call. This is a scam.

Just received the same message...I told the caller he was not genuine...and hung up

Had a message from this camel f*cker who claimed his name was Brandon Williams (funny name for a curry muncher) from the ATO and same deal, I needed to call him ASAP to avoid legal action etc. When I rang him back he hesitated when I said this name, he asked for my number and then hung up. I tried several times to ring again but it just kept ringing busy. When I got through again, I challenged him about proving he was from the ATO, he said he didn't need to justify his position and I told him he was a scam and he hung up. I rang back later and when I asked for 'Brendan Willis' (similar sounding name) he hung straight up. He answers the call as the "ATO" or "The Australian Tax Office".
I reported him to the ATO as a scammer. They had no record of him, and low and behold, the ATO were not chasing me for anything.
I have continued to ring the number to give him a mouth full but it keeps ringing engaged now. I think he has blocked his number. Its just rings once and then rings engaged.

Got a call from this number. Claims to be ato and threatened to seize assets if I didn't pay an amount I allegedly owed them.

Also got a call, claiming to be from the ATO, stating I must not disregard this message, it's 'time sensitive' and I must return this call, amateurish at best. If i didn't return the call, all he could offer is good luck as they are after me....

Message left on my phone from a caller with a foreign accent insisting which sounded like a recording insisting I or my attorney return his call otherwise I will be in legal trouble.
