Ring the number back or answer and ask to be removed from their callers list! I did it and no more call for me! :-)

I gladly give what I can. These guys saved my son and his mates at Surfers Paradise. Please support them don't curse them. You never know when you'll need them.

If you check with the ATO you will find that raffle tickets are not gifts and therefore are not tax deductible.

Maybe the surf life savers would be able to get the funding they needed if they didn't have to pay wages to people to sit on the phones all day and into the evening. Has anybody asked the call centre operators how much the life savers would save if they didn't have to pay you and rent the space you people sit in???????????

Save the # to your phone and name them as "block", then add them to your 'black list'. (I have a Samsung Galaxy and it works a treat).

Hoops... I certainly wouldn't want to work with you.
They most certainly are tax deductable! Donations to charitable organisations are deductable over $2, even when it's a raffle.

Yes, I bought a few lottery tickets in the past, but they call my mobile at 5.30-6.30pm when its not appropriate. I asked to be removed and they said I was, but they still call every lottery at closing time. They are nice people with a good cause but I support many good causes and its not nice to be hounded.

I agree. I've bought two $20.00 tickets ($40.00) and they are still hassling me! I ended up telling them that my husband and I manage donations together and we had given a decent amount already to S.L.S!! So please don't call again. Hang on! Just got another phone call hence why I am writing this post.

"Maybe instead of calling them to get your number removed, try calling them and helping them out?  Those guys do an amazing job and their call centre staff are helping to save lives"

Dear matt, I've just put your phone number into our charity phone centre database. You will be happy to hear that any day now, you will be receiving 28 phone calls a day from various charity groups.  Your pleasure in constantly helping people who save lives will bring you hours of ecstatic pleasure.   All they require is your money. After all, you can't put a price on human life... well, except for insurance companies, but apart from them. I can't wait to call you every day to see how happy you are.  Will dinner time be okay?

Hi there,
I just purchased my first ticket and when trying to see what the second option 1st prize choices were (it doesn't say on their site) I came across this thread!  Yikes.  I hate being called and gave my name, number and date of birth in the expectation it will be used to let me know if I win, more than this and I consider it harrassment!  Yes, really.

@ RealalityCheckOperator is absolutely correct.  There is no limit to the proportion of how much they can take, although I don't know if the SurfLifesavers, Aussie Swim Gods that they are are part of this or if they run their own system.  If people are complaining then I'd say it is an external agent who will take a large cut.  Hope they don't call NZ lol.

I am one of those SLSF call centre operators, we dont hang up and try to trick people into calling us, in fact when you call us back after a missed call we offer to call you back, the Surf Life Savers rescued 14 thousand people last swim season, I bet there are 14 thousand very grateful families out there, its not only about the rescues its about the first aid offered on all beaches, its the hellicopter that is out and about on call 24/7 they do a great job so why not support them, it could be worse mate it could be a call from an overseas call centre where you cant understand them nor get them off your phone, we are a very polite soft sell call centre and we cop a lot and I mean a lot of flack from people who simply dont know how to say know or ask to be taken off the call list, we callers are human too and we all love and are proud of who we work for and support, try being nice to us for once on the phone you might just have a nice conversation. And remember when swimming on the beaches, if we cant see you we cant save you so SWIM BETWEEN OUR RED AND YELLOW FLAGS ........Have a nice day all
