Ring the number back or answer and ask to be removed from their callers list! I did it and no more call for me! :-)

I gladly give what I can. These guys saved my son and his mates at Surfers Paradise. Please support them don't curse them. You never know when you'll need them.

If you check with the ATO you will find that raffle tickets are not gifts and therefore are not tax deductible.

Maybe the surf life savers would be able to get the funding they needed if they didn't have to pay wages to people to sit on the phones all day and into the evening. Has anybody asked the call centre operators how much the life savers would save if they didn't have to pay you and rent the space you people sit in???????????

Save the # to your phone and name them as "block", then add them to your 'black list'. (I have a Samsung Galaxy and it works a treat).

Hoops... I certainly wouldn't want to work with you. They most certainly are tax deductable! Donations to charitable organisations are deductable over $2, even when it's a raffle.

Yes, I bought a few lottery tickets in the past, but they call my mobile at 5.30-6.30pm when its not appropriate. I asked to be removed and they said I was, but they still call every lottery at closing time. They are nice people with a good cause but I support many good causes and its not nice to be hounded.

Maybe instead of calling them to get your number removed, try calling them and helping them out? Those guys do an amazing job and their call centre staff are helping to save lives.
Shane
After reading this and many other threads on this site, I see that so many people are nothing more than solitary, scared of interaction pieces of crap
They're charities FFS. Are you THAT scared to just say, "No, sorry, I'm not interested" when ever they call? Is it that much of a problem? I can't believe how anti-social people have become
You're nothing but a bunch of sooks
p.s- hats off to the life savers and the call centre operators doing this worthy cause. Don't let these sooks get you down
time
Why don't you just tell them that instead of trying to save face, if you don't want to donate don't, grow some balls stop trying to take the moral high ground. Your wasting their time and resources, just say "I WANT TO BE TAKEN OFF THE LIST!" is it that hard And another thing if buy tickets at the shops or stands say to them I don't want to be solicited, otherwise your going right back into the system again. Believe me they don't want to call people like you.
Dan
Dunno what's with the haters, I love having surf life savers, and the people who call are always considerate, never pushy, always polite, and I've generally got or given them a laugh while we're chatting. I donate regularly.
For the tax deduction rubbish, they're a charity so not-for-profit aka tax concessions/exemptions. They still pay bills like the rest of us, just can possibly claim the GST back. You're probably all understandably jaded by the constant marketing crap. This ain't marketing, it's a charity asking for your help.
Joe
yes and the worst thing is you think OMG ive won, but all they want is for you to buy more tickets.
Cass
I agree. I've bought two $20.00 tickets ($40.00) and they are still hassling me! I ended up telling them that my husband and I manage donations together and we had given a decent amount already to S.L.S!! So please don't call again. Hang on! Just got another phone call hence why I am writing this post.
