It's an automated system doing telemarketing for NRMA. They were checking up if I was going to renew and selling some extra options.
Took approx 10 seconds from pickup before someone was connected to the line on their end.

I've had a few calls from this number they don't leave a message. I rang them on a private number & it is insurance australia group they would not tell me what it was about & said they are not aloud to leave a message. Still they would give me any info as to who they were or what they did. Cheers jim

Hi everyone, I think I have solved the "mystery"I had a missed call from this number on 17/07/2010 at 2:05pm. No message left.I think this is a telemarketing call, telemarketing employees will call and hang up so it registers on their outbound call total. They are often required to meet unreasonable targets, so the poor souls in an attempt to stay employed and earn $10 an hour (welcome to the new Western World people) ring the list of phone numbers assigned to them and hang up as soon as the call is answered. They will often do this because the product or thing they are selling is probably rubbish and they know no one will buy it. Rather than go through the whole speel, abuse, angry responders etc, it's often easier to just hang up and register an outbound that "appears" as an non-interested customer on their daily log. (Thats until the company that employs "slave labour"finds a better computer system that can check voice durations to catch out their under paid and anxious, over stressed staff)

I have a couple of missed calls in the last few weeks from this number.  It is very annoying because as soon as I pick up, he/she/machine hang up.

I've had a couple of calls from this number. The most recent was today. I don't answer numbers I don't know.

My son answered the phone but they had hung up before it got to me.

It is Insurance Australia Group - NRMA Insurance in particular. When I called the number back they were asking for identification information which I wasn't prepared to give them. They wouldn't tell me anything about why they called but suggested I call on the NRMA 132132 number.

When I called that number I was prepared to give my details - evidently the Brisbane office was calling to follow up on a recent policy transaction we'd made.

It's a pity the Brisbane number doesn't stay on the line a bit longer... Poor people skills!

Call is from Insurance Australia Group (I called back - they reminded me to pay an overdue policy). Aparently they have an autodialer that connects to the call centre.
