I told them that the person who they asked about had been dead for almost two years and they started crying. Is this normal?

A supposed "Peter Wilson" with an extreme Indian accident. Didn't like smooth elevator jazz being played into my phone's microphone. Hung up after 20 seconds of grooving.

Same as above, usually refers to ‘accident inquiry’. If you receive this on your mobile (like I did) you can block the caller on your phone.

Male voice said from “Accident Support Centre, right!” I could hardly hear him so he repeated it with a little venom in his voice. I asked what that was and he gave me some response that I couldn’t hear except something about a recent car accident. I told him with don’t have any vehicles, he asked me to explain and I simply said that again. He hung up. Had a call yesterday from a mobile to my mobile with same scam, told her there were no cars here!

Claimed I had had an accident in the last few years. Clearly a scam - he would know about it if it was true! O7 number but all the hallmarks of overseas...(delay, feedback). When I said no accidents here he just hung up.

Man with a foreign accent asked about a car accident I'd had in the last two years but couldn't give me the date or details about the accident they were referring to. Very obviously a SCAM!

Same sh1t different day - " Did you have a car accident in the last 12 months...... " - I find it strange that these types of numbers are not registered to anyone like skype - why can't they be stopped at source. I can't just phone anyone up and harass them so why can they ?
There must be away - I suspect this number is a skype number - how can we find out because I am sure Skype can stop if it is

I let this number go to message bank. No message left. Rang number back on private line, number can not be connected. Googling showed this to be a scammer about accidents at your home or with your vehicle.

Same message - "can I speak with the person who had an accident in the last 12 months. It was not their fault. Were you hit in the rear back corner of your car." etc. etc etc.
Voices in the background saying the same thing. All sounded like Indian or sub continent accents.
I could see where the conversation was going - "need your personal details and we can help blah blah" Number now blocked.

Answered this scam caller at work (incoming number #(07) 3040 6782).
Allegedly, someone contactable on our business phone number was reportedly involved in a vehicle accident recently.
I immediately interrupted her - easily enough due to the 'international caller timing delay' - telling her not to try her scamming bullsh*t on a business and that I personally knew none of our employees had been involved in an accident.
I finished off with "your incoming number and conversation has been recorded for reporting to the police."
