Its a scam, they try and tell you they will pay you between 10 - 15 thousand for compensation from the a car accident you recently had. I played along for a good 10mins, I haven't been in or had a car accident. Thought I'd waste their time!!

Caller: Car accident scam Called asking about a "recent car accident claim" I had supposedly lodged. I don't own a car. The number is local but the caller has a strong Indian accent.
I'm guessing it's some sort of overpayment/refund scam - convince you they've sent you more money than they were supposed to (they really haven't sent you anything, but will con you into giving them access to your computer and internet banking account, and then use crude html code editing tricks to make it look like they've put money in your account). They then send you to buy gift cards to "pay the money back". See https://youtu.be/X4PllvUowaQ a video explanation of how this works.

Called about a recent car accident, kept saying they provide compensation from the government, didn't have my recent address, but had an older one and my full name from somewhere. I asked where they got my details form - they it popped up in their database - couldn't get more info about it from them. When they started asking personal details I said I don't want to give them any. Was a guy with Indian accent.

Call is from a local number, but the lady that called had a strong indian accident and there was a delay in the phone. They call asking you if you have been in a car accident in the last 2 years. Said she was from Smash Repairs. It's a scam though, I haven't been in a car accident.

Don't be so quick to say they're a scam. They called my daughter who had happened to have been in a car accident and they got her a $5K payout. Just saying.
