got a call from this number... didnt answer though.

not sure if this a scam # where they charge you when answered :-/

I got a call from this number at 9:14am on 2/6/08.

I suspected skullduggery afoot as I know of no one with a number like that.
I did not answer twice, the voice messages that were left were the trivia quiz ones.

The number called again and, ready for some light hearted entertainment at a telemarketer's expense I then answered. Alas, I was advised that "My number was selected for a special quiz with fabulous prizes to be won" and asked "Who is the current Prime Minister of Australia?" by a young robot with a feminine voice. Pressed 1 for Kevin Rudd. It advised me I got the answer correct and then hung up on me.

Minutes later, at 9:19, I recieved an SMS from 19992777 saying:
"(Free SMS) quizclubtv.com the EASY way to WIN upto $10,000 & NO nasty suprises on your Phone Bill! Reply with your PostCode in the next 2mins & Play for FREE!"

I ignored the message and another arrived at 9:30 from the same number saying:
"(Free SMS) What are you waiting for? Answer 3 more questions & you could WIN $10,000! More winners, More often! SMS the word WIN to play for FREE!".

Once again I did not reply and have not heard from them since. I have no idea where they got my number, I never do ANY of the SMS quizes, tone deals, wall papers, dodge porno etc etc.

I called my phone company and asked them to look the number up on my bill to see if I had been charged. They advised me I had not as I had recieved the call not made it.

Got a call from this number today, 07/07/2008 at 4:12PM and a voice mail was left on my voice mailbox. When I retrieved the message, it was some taped message of a trivia question. Don't remember ever joining a trivia quiz or using my mobile for such a thing. This is definitely a scam. Does anyone know which company this is?

Never fear - I just called it back again ahah a man told me it was a telemarketing service and you have not been charged for the message. You will only be charged if you play along with the question. I also says if you don't reply they won't message again.

What a great idea Katie, I have done that too now! It will say Scam DO NOT ANSWER, they called me about an hour ago and I was really angry so I have listed my numbers on the do not call register now for all the good that might do! It was a relief to find this thread! Thanks guys!

Heya, I got a call from this number at the same time as well (23 May 08 : ~8pm).  It was some stupid quiz prize bullcrap that said I won. I hung up within 3 seconds, but I'm mad as hell because I was having a much needed nap and it woke me up >:(

Is anyone reporting these scammers?
