This number tried to call me today, didnt know the number and it has a different area code than the state I live in so I did not answer. No message left, a check of comments above confirmed it's just a scammer.

Called, said they were from eBay. Asked if I had placed an order in California or knew somebody who might have done so. Said “no” and waited for the punchline. They hung up.

Called while I was on another call so checked the number after I got off the phone - they didn't leave a voicemail and I'm glad I read the comments here as it was clearly a scam - blocked the number!!

When I see a number that I don't recognise and particularly from interstate or overseas, I do not answer the call. If it's important enough, let them call back or let them send or leave a message - if they don't, it can't be important enough. After reading previous posts by others, it seems a prudent strategy.

Caller: Scammer An Indian lady called advising of a recent purchase of $950 on my credit card. Funny thing is I don't even own a credit card. I played along pretending to listen to her and when she asked me about the credit card details, I told her off and she disconnected the call.
