The caller said they were from Telstra - their feedback service; and they asked if I had any issues with my landline, internet or mobile service etc. The voice was female, and sounded Indian. When she started rabbting about something, I said I couldn't understand a word she was saying, and another female (Indian, but different voice) took over the conversation. In the space of three or four minutes, I had maybe half a dozen different female Indian voices in my ear. No names. Ever. They asked if I had the Telstra App. I said no. They wanted me to download it - and while they were asking me to download it, they sent me a text from Telstra - the forgot your password text (legit), so - the female told me, I could change my Telstra password. That's when I hung up. Telstra never rings its customers to ask them to change their password. So I called Telstra, they confirmed that a) they never call their customers from mobile numbers; b) they don't call and ask you to change your password; and c) if you're account is hacked, they don't call you - they have to wait for you to call them to find out why your email's not working, etc, so they can be sure it's YOU who's contacting them, not some scammer. The text message I received during the scammers call is legit - and Telstra explained how the scammer gets it sent to us to make the scammer look legit. The end game is to persuade you to enter the password they give you so they can 'set it up in their system' or whatever, and at that point, your account is gonesky. It's theirs.

Caller: Telstra Technical Support supposedly They didn't get past their introduction... hung up. Comment: I don't get how I need to prove my iD to get a mobile number, yet foreign scammers seem to have free range on Australian mobile numbers? As soon as these numbers are found to be scammers, they should be automatically disconnected by the provider.

Caller: Scammer posing as Telstra Feedback Service The caller said she was from the Telstra feedback service. They were female and sounded Indian (probably the same one as first comment) and asked if I was experiencing reception / connection issues lately, which I said yes. She asked how long had I been experiencing it for, which I answered 2 weeks. She then said because of the interuption in my services I was eligible for 40% off my service for 2 years, proceeded to talk really fast about my email and sending me a confirmation or whatever. I got a legitimate google verification code texted to me and then when I saw it was legit, I hung up. Looks like another attempt to hack my email to change the password. I knew she was full of it based on the email she asked me about because that's my throw-away one I use for newsletters and other crap.
Only reason I answered the call in the first place is because recently I've had a couple of legitimate businesses and people I've exchanged numbers with in-person, call me and it's come up on my phone as "spam", so I assumed this number was from one of them.
I didn't verify the call with Telstra, I just blocked and reported the number.
