I have received an SMS from this number: "Subject:msginfo Hello - Your order has been held at our forwarding depot. Please follow instructions here: http:// ..."
This looks like a scam because: 1. I have not ordered anything. 2. No identification of company. 3. No alternative method provided of making contact (such as via a verifiable advertised phone number), or of obtaining further information about the order. 4. No order number has been given, in order to identify the order on further enquiry. 5. I have seen similar messages before, although not on this phone, and not for quite a while. 6. The message specifies a short meaningless URL in the ".me" domain, which I have not reproduced here in case it identifies my phone number to the sender. (I have also waited a while before making this report, for the same reason.) It is possible that the specified web page will attempt to insert malicious code into the recipient's device, just by clicking on the link.
Thank you, Reverse Australia, for a very useful free service!
