Received a call from a gentleman claiming to be from the Accident Investigations Unit wanting to discuss a car accident. Very thick indian accent. Straight away I got the sense this might be a scam call so asked where he was from. All he repeated was that he was from above. I asked what this unit was related to, what department etc, and he couldn't answer. He insisted I had been in an accident in the last two years and he needed to confirm details with me. I refused to give him any details until I could verify where he was from - I asked him for a contact number for his unit. He advised he is not allowed to give this out but if I gave him my contact number he could call me back. I told him I would not give out any personal details at all unless I could have a contact number for his unit and be able to verify the call's authenticity. He said "not a problem mam, have a good day" and hung up.
Clearly a scam.
Remember not to give out ANY details to anyone who is cold calling you unless they can provide you with contact details and ideally a reference number and website / address etc so you can confirm what organisation they are from ie. if they are legit....
