Caller: Purportedly 'World Vision'

I am getting a strong feeling that this number is used by scammers to induce 'donations' from unwary victims.

Got a call during business hours today (to our business line). It showed up as the mobile number: 0488 828 663. So, we answered the call, thinking it would be a customer enquiry. But, no.

ALSO, feel that this is a scam, because, if you read all the other posts about this number (on this page) you'll see that the 'organisation' that is calling, changes frequently. One time it's 'Green Peace' - then it's 'Bush Heritage Australia' - then it's 'World Vision'.

The REAL organisations don't have the money, the staff, or the time to set up call centers for cold calling people all day every day - seeking donations. That's just NOT how they work.

I supported a recent Green Peace survey against drilling in the Great Australian Bite, then got an email asking for monthly donations and now a call....seriously why cant we just do one thing without it leading to solicitation for more.

Got a call from this number this morning, didn't answer but had a feeling it was a scam call.

Sounds like "clevercontacts.com.au" - a fundraising agency who raise money on behalf of registered charities. That's their business. RSPCA is one of their charities. Not a scam but still unwelcome cold calling. They phone people who already donate and encourage them to increase their regular donation, saying they are running a campaign to help (with reasons).
They are quite successful and let the charity concentrate on core business

I got a call and the person knew me by name. As soon as I started responding to ask who it was, they hung up. Tried calling back and the line automatically disconnected, it wouldn't ring.

Caller: St John's Ambulance

Apparently I showed interest in the work St John's do (apparently through some online surveys....SCAM), went on for 12 minutes (normally I just hang up but I kept listening) all for trying to get me to be a supporter and donate each month, said that I couldn't about three times, kept pushing so I hung up!
I'm all for supporting charities but this isn't the way to do it.
Now I don't know how to get off the call list for more calls like this!

ANNOYING & causes huge distress when you're expecting a REAL CALL. Especially an EMERGENCY. Just STOP STOP STOP !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Caller: “World Vision”

Called me saying he was from world vision and when I asked how he got my no he claimed I had filled out an online survey and showed “interest in the cause” which I most certainly have not 😂

Caller: Public Outreach

Called me didn’t leave a msg I called it back and I got a msg bank saying it was public outreach. SCAM

I don't answer numbers I don't recognise, this being one of them. Clearly a scammer. Add to your Blocked Numbers list.

Caller: Children's Outreach

Recieved a call from this mobile number 02/09/2019. The man on the other end claimed to be from Children's Outreach (yet it sounded like he was standing at a busy intersection). I immediately hung up the call. Sounded like he was asking for donations to said Charity. I have since been in touch with charity to let them know the sitation. I have not received a response from them.

Lady said she was from Greenpeace. Wanted to know how my day was and what I had been up to.
Seriously? As if Im telling.
Asked her politely a few times I wasnt interested in the call but she continued with her spiel. So I just hung up.
I can only assume it was a scam.

asking for donations (weekly!) and VERY much reading from a script.
did seem to originate 'locally' (not internationally)

MSF: Doctors without Borders. Signed up on website link for map + fridge magnet. May well be a marketing firm that is contracted by all these "charities", so may be legit, but far too slick. THEY OBVIOUSLY AFTER MONEY .. LEGIT OR NO. BEST IGNORED!

After reading all of these comments, it looks like it's all sorts of "charities" scammers more like it, BLOCKED :-)
