Caller: “Telstra”

They called but didn’t answer, went through voicemail but didn’t leave one. Called back a second later. I answered, could barely understand what she was saying but she said she’s from Telstra billing department. She went on to say Telstra are giving me 50% discount on my monthly bill because they’re getting lots of complaints about high prices. Asked me if I was happy with the price I pay I said yes, mentioned my email address. Then went on to say about the discount again but making it seem like an advertisement. I was already suspicious because Telstra never call unless we’ve had issues with our internet. She then told me she was sending a verification code from Microsoft to my email. Straight away told her sounds like a scam, she got flustered and asked why I thought that and I said because telstra don’t ask for codes from Microsoft and she said I need the code to verify your account so I send it from the Microsoft program. I replied nope Telstra don’t ask for codes from email using Microsoft. (I’ve had plenty of experience with Telstra and how they send codes) and promptly hung up as I was busy.
Later tried to call the number to see if it would work and it did but I hung up and whoever it was called back the second I hung up but I didn’t answer.
