Got text at 10am - "Hi mum, let me know when you get this text, Ive had to change my sim because I dropped my phone down the Loo and it got soaked" I had not long talked to my 30 yr old finally independent married daughter before this text, I thought it was really odd, but I did respond "[daughter's nickname]??" Scammer: "Yes its me" I was at work and didn't look again for hours so they texted again Scammer: "Are you busy?" Scammer: Wanted to buy a new phone but I don't have access to my bank account right now, I was wondering if I could borrow some money and I'd pay you back as soon as Ive a new phone set up"
This was obviously then a phishing text so I creatively told them where to go and reported via iPhone (also to government website) and blocked
