I’ve received texts on WhatsApp making out they’re my son (who is overseas) saying he’s lost his phone and needs to pay bills, could we pay for him. Asked me to delete his old phone number from contacts and save this new number. Persistent, many texts received. Checked with my son, he hasn’t lost phone. ITS A SCAM!!!

Caller: WhatsApp msg They said it was my daughter who had broken phone and new number. Then they asked if I could pay a couple of urgent bills and asked for my credit card details. Sent them then got a msg from bank with code for purchase in euros. I asked them a question and no answer so I rang so. In law who said no phone broken etc. I got suspicious so rang bank and transaction hadn’t gone through and card cancelled immediately. Didn’t think WhatsApp could hack contacts
