Totally a scammer, send what's app message to ask the condition of products I listed on gumtree and asked for more photos, it's sound like a real buyer, then said will arrange carrier and payment through t gumtree,and send you a link to click on to receive payment, don't be fool to put any of your bank details and information on that

Thanks for posting re this number. Same approach via WhatsApp used to enquire about some furniture I have for sale. This is the fourth scammer I have had contact me re the same Gumtree ad so they are prolific on Gumtree nowadays. Unless they contact me via Gumtree, I'm not even bothering to respond. Also click on their profile to check their sales / purchase history - that seems to be a good way to check their authenticity.

Same as above. Sent me a message via WhatsApp. That’s what got me suspicious. Asking if item from gumtree is still available and what condition it’s in, even asked why l was selling it. Then says they’re ready to organise the courier and pay the costs. Unbelievable.

This caller used WhatsApp and standard scamming approach for Gumtree advert. Initially it was clear they never read the advert as asking for more pics when there were plenty. I asked why then got told for general condition. So I asked if genuine as I would need deposit to hold for collection, or full payment. Then I got the exact message as the earlier reporter, namely "I want to make a secure transaction through Gumtree, first I pay for the order, you get money for the order and after you receive the money, the delivery service manager will contact you to clarify the time of meeting with the courier that is convenient for you.". So I continued on, basically baiting the person to get full info to report to Gumtree, as they suggest. Got an sms link to receive payment at sms.fund/(123specialcode456) and it seems this link is to trick you into giving credit card details for your 'refund' good luck with that. I also asked about verification of the service because I didn't know of it. Got sent a screenshot of Gumtree delivery service - you know, the one that DOESN'T exist in Australia! So I told the person I got a higher offer and they would be round in the morning. They got all indignant because they paid. So I said I didn't agree to sale and they should get their money back. No response. It is a total scam, and don't think anything else!

Gumtree scam. Asked about quality of goods, then said he would arrange courier from Sydney to Davenport "Tassy".
