I missed a call from this number. I called back and got the answering recording for Clever Contacts telemarketers. Blocked the number.

Answered, and they promptly hung up

I never answer calls from unknown numbers these days but picked up the phone on this occasion without speaking, simply in order shut it up. The nuisance/scam callers usually simply hang up. This time someone spoke, addressing me by name, and saying they were calling from "Clever Contacts" - among the most persistent of this modern plague of unsolicited calls.
They clearly live on a different planet, these people. The relentless flood of scam and nuisance calls has driven countless victims to give up their landline phones altogether, or at least to never answer them. But that isn't going to stop these people from butting into our lives in our own homes. They may love getting all these calls but most of us certainly don't. So they got very short shrift from me. And yet another number has been blocked.

Phone rang a couple of times then hung up

Absolute pests. I receive a daily call from various 0480 numbers despite being on the Do Not Call register. I block every one of them only to get another call from slightly different number the next day.

Top Tip: Leave your phone on DoNotDisturb. Add family and friends to favourites and if they don't leave a message can prob block 🙂
