claimed to be from Telstra. Possible scam.

i didnt answer . didnt know the number . tried to call back it wouldnt connect to ring tone for maybe 10 seconds then it cut out / hang up call tone so i blocked the number and put my comment here for others to see .

Caller: claimed to be Telstra

wanting to give a 40% discount on bills for next 7 months - wanted to verify email address, but could not even understand the caller - but email address didn't sound right. Then wanted my email address, but I was not willing to provide that. I do not have a Telstra account - though I do have one with an associated provider.

Claimed to be from Telstra, very poor quality connection. Stated was following up on the discount offer I had received for my Telstra service. No such offer received and I have not been with Telstra for years. She hung up as soon as I said I was not a Telstra client, albeit she knew my name. Australian Government & Telcos need to fix this crap immediately.

Caller said “My name is Mara from Telstra” - lots of call centre noise in the background. Since I do not hold a Telstra account I ended the call. Obviously a scam. I tried calling the number 8 times from different phone where I work - the number did not ring at all and then gave an engaged signal.

Didn’t answer. Looked up in here and saw some said possible Telstra scam did adding to blocked list.
