EVERY TIME I sign up for something that requires me to enter my phone number, I get a call from an unknown number within 10 minutes of having given it. It is beginning to look as if somehow scammers have access/know ways in which to skim off AT LEAST the phone number. This time I was signing up for an 8-week reduced subscription to a newspaper, but it has been other sites as well, with no recognisable links to previous subscriptions. I am sure this number is just one more fake number used to try and scam me. MORE should be done to prevent these things from happening.
