Where was this number calling from?

Caller: Irene bell

Called asking for someone who was a neighbour that I didn't recognise the name. Knew my name, my previous address and would not disclose who they worked for. Would not disclose how they got my number said they had access to private databases. I asked if the call was recorded and they said yes. I asked for a copy and they declined. I requested it to be deleted and they said they couldn't and would advise their customer service team to be in contact.

The exact same thing happened to me. There is no way they found an old contact of mine through Facebook because my profile is locked and completely private. Very scary though.

Caller: Vee

Called wanting me to pass on a message to a friend. kept saying she but friend is a male. Wanted to text me a number but I said just give it to me and I'll write it down. said can she ring back to confirm message was passed on. Wouldn't tell me company or what the call was about just that it was a personal matter. Number she said to ring back on is (02) 8836 4373.

Caller: Justin

I had a missed call from this number, when I called back a woman answered and she looked up my number to see who had called and advised me it was her colleague Justin. When I asked what company she was from, she would not tell me and said that Justin would be able to better assist. When she put me through to him he would not tell me where he was from either, but said "Sydney" (idiot) and would not tell me where. He wanted to speak to my son and when I advised that he'd need to speak to me because my son is a minor he went all weird. So again, I asked what he wanted and he told me he was trying to speak to (my son's name) to get some information to assist in a matter relating to one of his friends. Very dodgy indeed. I hung up and blocked the number. You can hear a call centre environment in the backgroud.

Called without identifying themselves, saying they were looking for our next door neighbour, asked if we knew (insert name) at (insert address number). I cut the call as it was very suspicious as to how they would know the address linked to my mobile phone looking for a stranger.

Asking about someone I knew 6 years ago and saw my name on there facebook and trying to get incontact with them. They said due to what they do they have access to peoples numbers which is weird. Told them I don't speak to them any more and they left me alone. I have now blocked the number either a scam of debt collecting.

Called asking for a family member but won’t state what company there from or what it’s regarding

Done exactly same, no idea how he new my number or that lived near the address

I missed a call from this number recently, but answered it today. Xavier asked if he was talking with "my full name". He said he'd been trying to call my Sister (Mags), but couldn't get through to her. Xavier asked me to give her his name & number; explaining that he needed to discuss a personal matter (that was very important). Having seen Xaviers name HERE after that missed call - I decided to block the number (which my Sister has probably already done on her phone).

Knew my name don’t know how as my number is not listed. Trying to get info about a relative. Refused to tell me who they are and what company they are from. Hung up on them and blocked.

Keeps ringing but when I pick up he wants all my personal details which I will not disclose over the phone. Will also not tell me what he wants or who he works for.

Want to speak with someone living in my house, but the name is incorrect. She insists that the random person's name is living at my address and then ask for my name. She dont want to give me information about who she works for, and all she says is that it's a personal matter.

Rang my number then asked for my partner by his name. Said trying to contact another person but I don’t recognise name. Wouldn’t say who she worked for!!

Person called me and asked for my partner by name. Wtf then asked about our sister in law saying he was not a debt collector just was handling a personal matter for her. She told me she doesn't have any debts. She called the number and it was a debt collector

aLSO LOOKING FOR A PERSON WITH THE SAME SURNAME AS MINE. GAVE THEM NO DETAILS. BUT EITRHER A DEBT COLLETOR OR A SCAM

She said she got my number looked it up. How I don't know. She knew were I lived , again how ,said she was looking for luke

Caller: I just got a phone call from someone called irina bell and she wanted to get in touch with you She didn’t tell me how she had my number but she said it’s a personal matter

They contacted a friend of mine from 15 years ago! Shocking the tactics!

Said they were from a Sydney office looking for Luke as they have to get a message across to him. i told them I don't know who Luke was
