Steer away from this person who pretends to be a genuine buyer of cars without seeing them. The person messages the car sellers claiming that he/she is happy to pay the asking price only on the condition that you pay a certain business to obtain so-called an ACC report. Apparently he has an interest in the business or gets a percetage of each referral.

SMS from the above number to enquire about my car, was the start of exchange that extended to email (timdavid7641 @ gmail.com) When asked for his name he said he was Tim from Rochester in Victoria. He was interested in purchasing my car and we arranged for him to view the car the following day. He accepted the advertised price before viewing the car but insisted I provided him with an ACC report from a web address he suggested. I provided a PPSR report, suggesting the so called ACC report could not offer any additional information. I declined to enter the website he proposed because it was reported to be an obscured service. I suggested he had enough information to get that report himself. I offered to discount the sale price by the $49.99 cost of the report he seeks. That was the last of the exchange.

I received an SMS from the above number enquiring about my car for sale. This initiated an exchange that later continued via email at timdavid7641 @ gmail.com
. When I asked for his name, he identified himself as Tim from Rochester, Victoria. He expressed interest in purchasing my vehicle, and we arranged for him to inspect it the following day.

Before viewing the car, he accepted the advertised price but insisted that I obtain an “ACC report” from a website he recommended. I explained that I had already provided a PPSR report, and that the website he directed me to appeared to be an obscure third-party service. Despite my concerns, we proceeded to procure the report he requested.

Shortly afterward, he advised that he had been involved in an accident and would no longer be able to attend the arranged inspection. No further communication was received from him.

This conduct appears intentionally misleading, and I am reporting it out of concern that others may be targeted in a similar way.

Searched up mobile number and found other reports with same information.
Interested in purchasing car from Gumtree, wanted an ACC report from suggested website. Offered to provide one from service NSW, insisted on using the website he provided. Told him we knew he was a scam and we would report, otherwise would see him tomorrow if he was serious.

Yep. This guy is a scammer. Claims he's interested in the car but wants the seller to get this ACC report. Clearly he has an interest in tge website he directs the seller to.
