Caller: Scammers posing as Eastlink [SCAM] Received: 00:40AM 11/APR/2024. Type: SMS scam message with link. Message content: "Eastlink: Your toll deduction payment has failed. Swift action needed to prevent penalties. More info at [link redacted, contains "east linkrie" to try and look like the word Eastlink, and is a Live-type address]". Ask yourself: Is Eastlink really in your state or territory? It doesn't exist where I am. This is an 04/+61 number - No actual toll service sends a message from a +61 number, and especially not at 1 in the morning, it would be done during business hours. Poor English (should be "Swift action IS needed" - and, they wouldn't use the word "swift" anyway, unless Taylor Swift has somehow hijacked our phone services), suggesting not a professional message. Most importantly, toll service websites aren't run through MS Live services: real Eastlink has its own .com .au web-domain!! VERDICT: Likely scam. Never click on URLs provided in text messages from unknown numbers, even if they may seem legitimate. Do not put your personal details into the website they provide. This number is now associated with SMS scams - if the "company" they are posing as is different in your message than in my message, please still do not clink on any links. - antiscam anon xoxo.
