This guy said from Equity and that he rang me last year. Had my first name and surname and because of numbers of scams I panicked and hung up. I googled and equity is attached to combank. On another search was indicating Scam. And now here Asbestos removal

Caller: No, call, dodgy sms link attached

I didn't have to open this link to know it is a SCAM. It's classic prey on the desperate. This guy sends a link via sms to your number. The message states " from the Australian Government regarding Covid Rapid Antigen tests". I'm sure if you open it, it will have instructions on how to get your free test, however you will have to give all of your details and while you are typing in that data, the scammer is creating a Phish to get your bank and credit card account details. DO NOT OPEN THIS LINK and report the sms to Optus as Optus are providing a network to facilitate crime and that's not on. The more of us that complain, the harder it is for these parasites to function. Happy New Year

Called claiming to be from Equity and that they had called me last May. When I challenged them on this and asked them to take me off their call list they rudely argued with me about the fact that we had done business last year. Don't know who they are but we hadn't done any business and definitely won't be in the future.

They hung up, I did not call back.

I had the same experience as another person - the guy said he was from Equity and that he rang me last year. Going on and on about a seminar that I was invited to last year that is now going to be online. Something to do with being a home owner. He had my first name and surname. I quickly ended the conversation.

Block these fools. You will have no genuine reason to deal with them unless you work for the Federal Police in the Fraud and Cyber Crime section which is where all scam calls should be forwarded to increase the chance of anything ever being done re: illegitimate abuse of our phone system.
