Text received claiming they are from RSPCA, wanting me to click on a link to create a contact card on my phone, and then asking me to confirm my email address so they could send me my tax invoice. I do donate to RSPCA and get a tax invoice sent each year, but everything you’re not supposed to do is in this text! Also, from the 1 July, a new regulation will require all business to register their branded sender id with the Australian communications and media authority, which will show their name at the top of the text message. This change is to target scammers who impersonate well known brands/businesses. You would think that a well respected charity would ensure they did this before sending text messages.
