This number rang me repeatedly, when I kept declining the call and eventually, I answered after 3 trys in case it was something important. The woman with a heavy Indian-sounding accent said she was from Telstra Billing and Accounts and said that I would be receiving a discount on my bills for the next 6 months because people had been complaining that Telstra was too expensive. She knew my first name and my email address. She said I didn't have to do anything or verify any of my details (this is the part where they trap you into a false sense of security). She then said that I would be receiving a text message with a code from Microsoft and I needed to tell her what it was. At this point I know for sure this is a scam and so I fib and say I didn't receive any code and because I want to be rid of her, I say I am at work and I don't have time for this. But she perseveres saying I have now received another code by text and email so I was just rude at that point and said I am not interested goodbye, while I can still hear her trying to keep me on the line and I hung up and blocked the number and changed my email password after googling that this is a definite scam.

Similar to above, offered 50% off Telstra services (which I don't have any), then asked me to verify an SMS code received from my private email provider. Basically they are trying to steal my email credentials by doing a password reset using my mobile as 2nd factor authentication. They also caused a second text to come from a genuine Telstra number to authenticate themselves as being "from Telstra". They did this by trying to trigger a password reset on a Telstra account which sent a text to verify. This is a pretty dangerous scam as they already knew my name, email, phone number, and partial secondary email address (email provider shows secondary email as part of their password reset process), plus triggered a Telstra system to text to appear genuine. I played along for 10 minutes before we mutually got bored (and there was some swearing in a foreign language).
