Male claiming to be from Ray White Real Estate agency, in my local area (Melbourne). He knew my Christian name and street of address that I previously lived in, over 5 years ago. Started conversation by saying that a property close to me recently sold for 1.2 million. I was under the impression he was a Real Estate Salesman. When I queried as to how he got my information, when I was only a previous tenant and not an home owner, he seemed genuinely surprised. I asked if he should be accessing my tenant information and he said, no and seemed genuinely surprised again and realised he should not be accessing tenant information, let alone calling me. He then seemed to panic and stated he had another call and would call me back. I insisted he stay on the phone while I checked old emails in relation to my old tenancy and he just hung up on me. Not sure if he was an actual scammer, because of this. I contacted the Real Estate Agency he quoted and they insist that the phone number does not belong to any of their staff (sales or rentals) and none of my personal information is on their database, anyway. If this number does belong to an actual Real Estate Agent/Salesman, then he's accessing information that he shouldn't be. If he's a scammer, not sure what he was after!
