Health department. Clarifying address for a referral.

Caller: The text says Central Referral Service

Please call the Central Referral Service on 1300 551 142 between 8am & 4pm in order for us to process your hospital referral we received from your GP, REF 1551564

The telephone number and the REF both have links on them - i would suggest you do not click on them

Caller: I don’t know as messages say different things..

First I received a call from a private number, which I didn’t answer. They left a voicemail asking me to call the Department of Health on a 1300 number and to quote a number that was given. Then a text came through saying this : Please call the Central Referral Service on 1300 551 142 between 8am & 4pm in order for us to process your hospital referral we received from your GP, REF 2135950
I don’t recall needing a hospital referral for myself OR my children so I’m not sure what to do with this tbh! I’ve read so many horror stories of people calling back private numbers and being scammed etc BUT at the same time, maybe it could be legit as we DO happen to have medical issues.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Caller: suspected scam/phishing

Same as the other comments I received a text and a voice mail asking me to call 1300 551 142 and to quote GP: ref 2904428. Facts are, my GP has made a referral to a specialist for me but having worked in the health departments of three separate state health departments the person calling should have firstly identified themselves, who the referring GP was and to which health service the referral was to. This smells very much like a scam. I won't go near it.

This is a genuine call regarding hospital referrals

I got a call from unknown source, I didn’t answer.
Then I got a message that says “Please call the Central Referral Service on 1300 551 142 between 8am & 4pm in order for us to process your hospital referral we received from your GP, REF 1978114”

As I was waiting for a similar referral but doubted this message so I questioned “what type of referral and from which GP?” and I didn’t get any response!
So I think this is a scam!
