A dude with Indian accent claimed they are from Vodafone and said someone stole my ID and open a SIM card in Beijing airport and send scam SMS, Demand me to report police ASAP or otherwise they will report me to ACCC and I won't be able to use any mobile service in Australia.
He can provide my name and gave me a "case reference number" for me to quote when I call back.
I question that dude why Australia Vodafone has an office in Beijing airport and what ID did the scammer provided to collect the SIM card. And he cannot answer me.
That dude keep repeating the same information. At the end they said they will transfer my call to police office. I told him that I will go to the police office now to report everything. He said I cannot go to other police station and must talk to the one at the airport.
I hang up on him immediately and he used another number to call me again.
Talk to Vodafone later and confirm it is definitely scam. The scary thing is he made the story so true by providing the official Vodafone 1300 number and ask me to call back and provide me a ""case reference".
