Definitely a scam.

“Hey mum, I’ve smashed my phone please message my new number in what’s app; 0485 836 515” I don’t have children

This is an SMS. Suspect it's a scam. They say they're from (MyGov) having identified that I'm eligible for a tax rebate, with a link. I've already had my tax return advice, so I know it's not true.

And another:
Hi mum I'm texting you off a friends phone I've smashed mine and their phones about to die, can you WhatsApp my temporary number 0480 089 554 please x

Scam, says 'I've broken my phone ext me my new number'. How can anyone believe this, if you've broken your phone then you can't get/read any text message!!

It's a scam text message. I don't have kids.

The text says "Hi mum I'm texting you off a friends phone I've smashed mine and their phones about to die, can you What's app my temporary number 048-5-860-119 please x".

Sent me a text message from LINKT, which I do have an account with. Recently travelled after not travelling for some years so questioned this text as a genuine possibility until my husband showed our account is actually in credit.

Fake text telling me to click on link because activity on my card, has been stopped because of security reasons. Idiots but I suppose they do get some poor unsuspecting people to click on the link. 🤬

They texted me saying “ mum , I've just broken my phone could you please message my new number on WhatsApp 0485 859 013 x”. ITS A SCAM. THEY THEN HIT YOU UP FOR MONEY. I know my daughters phone is not broken

This number sent a message stating they were from Aramex and that I had missed a parcel delivery and to click on the link. I contacted Aramex who stated that 3 other people had contacted their call centre with the same message from the same number. Definitely a scam.
