Caller: Microsoft Scammer

Scammer claiming to be from Microsoft called and said that my computer had been hacked and that they were getting lots of errors.
He said that Microsoft had tried to inform me of this by notifying me through pop-up windows whilst using a browser, but had received no reply from me.

He then gave me my computers unique ID number: 888DCA60-FC0A

A side note this is a portion of the number 888DCA60-FC0A-11CF-8F0F-00C04FD7D062. This is not a unique ID for a windows computer. In fact it is on most windows computers.

The scammer then tried to get me to type the following instruction into the command line: -R then CMD (followed by OK) and then ASSOC (followed by RETURN).

This will come up with a file match, but it does not mean your computer has been hacked or infected with a virus.

Anyway, as he was trying to get me to type the command into my computer I casually pointed out that I did not have a windows computer. He asked if I had a Mac. I said that I didn't. Then when he asked what OS I was using I said OS4.1 (A.K.A. Workbench).

This confused him so he asked what sort of computer I was using and I said an Amiga X5000. FYI, this computer actually exists and is the latest version of the Amiga computers that started in the mid 80's and can be bought from www.a-eon.com.

Whilst I do not actually use an Amiga I always tell scammers that I do.
They usually want you to download a Remote Desktop client (anydesk or team viewer) so thatchy can access your machine and steal your personal information or plant spyware. However there are no Remote Desktop clients that will work on an "Amiga" and this pisses them off. They think they have a sucker on the line but can do nothing about it.

Anyway, after a few minutes of him trying to work out what an Amiga was and realising that I could not be hacked he hung up. The call only lasted a few minutes. I have kept them on for around 30 mins.
