This man, Cliff Warner, enjoys the highs of his business but doesn't pay his subcontractors. Always the excuses of 'the building company hasn't paid me yet' or such like. He will pay a subbies wages on time first pay, next pay may be a little later or a little short....and so it continues and grows until his subbies are owed thousands. He continues to hire young men who will work their butts off for him, remaining loyal all the while. He is very happy with their work until he runs out of excuses and then fires them. Usually this happens every couple of years at most and then reneges on payment. One young lad with a wife and young family of three kids expressed his heart wrenching story of just not wanting to go home after work. He said 'I don't know what to say to my wife anymore, she is stressed, I am stressed and my children are suffering'. Another is suicidal but smart enough to say 'I won't do it but I just feel I don't want to be here anymore'. These are just two of the young men who have been recently fired. I'm a home owner, someone built my house, laboured under the hot sun, and I am grateful for the roof over my head. Did that person/s deserve to get paid? Yes of course! Cliff could afford the high life, wife's plastic surgery, kids holidays abroad, University fees....and hardly ever on work sites. Nobody begrudges him that but the lads just want to get paid for their work. Let's see if he does pay them.
