My father was called by Jelinda Peters after meeting on a dating website and on the night of June 15th, was given an identical story, purchased and gifted the Optus credit.

Subsequently, on June 18th, Jelinda Peters called again asking for in excess of $18,000 to facilitate the cutting and polishing of gemstones which cost more than she had expected, and that she would pay him back in cash at a later date.

This is most definitely a scam.

Jelinda Peters of Flemington Street Adelaide. Met on dating website. Emailed each other several times the a surprise phone call from her. She sounds very nice & can be quite convincing. Claims to have her own business buying gemstones & other precious stones. Says she has to travel to Cambodia to purchase items for her business, then asks for Optus credit for her phone. When asked to prove her identity she becomes very nasty and abusive. Be careful. She has an accent, claims to have grown up in Switzerland. I believe her accent is Asian. She is a master scammer. She will fleece you and rip you off. She has been reported to the Australian Federal Police and to the dating website that we met on. When a deep internet search is done on this phone number, it is registered with over 100 dating sites. So go figure.

This lady by the name of Jelinda Peters called after we met on a dating website, three short phone calls and a few emails later and she tells me she had to travel to Cambodia to Purchase gemstone as she makes jewellery, whilst in Cambodia she tells me her phone has been on roaming and used all her credit, can I please purchase $200 of Optus credit from Woolworths and email the PIN number to her. I have asked her to prove her identity. I will keep you posted but I would say it is a scam.
