Caller: Visa / Mastercard scam call Robocall stating that $500 has been debited from my Visa/Mastercard to Amazon and eBay. I was told to press 1 if I did not want this to proceed. Obvious scam call. So I pressed 1 to see what they would say.
They wanted me to go to www.anydesk.com and download the Remote Desktop Access (RDA) program Anydesk. With this they can take control of your computer and do anything that the owner can do. They use it to steal access details for email, bank accounts, websites etc. they can take enough information to steal your identity and leave spyware, viruses or ransomware.
NEVER DOWNLOAD ANYTHING THAT THEY ASK YOU TO DOWNLOAD OR GO TO A WEBSITE THAT THEY ASK YOU TO GO TO.
These people have no idea who they are talking to so if you ak them to prove they are who they say they are (like a specific letter in your name) they will refuse and hide behind customer privacy.
Always lie to these people. Keep them on the line as long as possible annoy them and stop them from scamming others.
I usually tell them I have an Amiga 5000 computer (it is a real computer from http://a-eon.com/). This means that there is no version of any Remote Desktop Access program that will work on it. It really annoys them as they think they have a sucker on the line and cannot access their computer.
