This happens a lot - scammers steal a legitimate number to call and try to scam !
But when people people back they have no idea what your talking about - its happened to me also both ways.

This person denied ever calling me, she wanted to know what company i worked for. Simply block this caller. Watch out for people calling you with a similar number to yours, the last two digits are different. Could be scammer...

Simply block this caller.
Watch out for people calling you with a similar number to yours, the last two digits are different. Could be scammer...
