Purported to be from the Commonwealth Bank calling to ask if I had authorised a payment to a relative overseas as they needed medical intervention. When I said I gave no accounts with the Commonwealth they just hung up.

Claimed to be from the Commonwealth Bank and said that they'd had a request to send $800 overseas. She said that it was a relative who needed medical treatment. And that, as I'd not sent money overseas normally, they wanted to check with me. At this point, I clarified "I'm sorry, did you say you were calling from the Commonwealth Bank?" I had to ask as she said it right at the start of the call and with a heavy accent and I hadn't quite caught it. So she says "yes" and I respond "well, I don't have any accounts there"- the next thing I heard was "click". Easy for me to get rid of them as I have no accounts there but could be scary for people who do have accounts with the CSB.
