I think he said he was "John" (with an accent that made that doubtful). The audio kept breaking up and he called back from 0419 660 650. He wanted me to download and install Anydesk remote desktop software to help me secure my account as he could not lock it from his end.He mentioned that he is real because I could look him up at http://banksecureserver.com/ (which is locked for excess bandwidth, but I didn't tell him I'd tried).

He stayed in character even when I told him it was fine to just lock the account completely.
