Some general notes when trying to identify scammers, : Most Australian legit websites will either use .com or .com.au extensions. : If you don't recognize the phone number, let the call go to voice mail. If it's legit & important enough, they will leave a message. ( For better protection, use the default voicebank prompt without your name or voice) : If you feel the need to answer the call, don't say anything. Wait for them to talk first. If you feel the need to respond to any of their questions or prompts, be generic as possible or provide misleading information and observe their responses. : Never respond to or click a link in a text that doesn't stipulate from what company it originates. (Eg, regards (car service where you take your car to get fixed)) : Most Australian businesses will not send emails (let alone texts) outside of standard business hours.
