Caller: NBN - allegedly

Person named, "Michael...", called claiming to be from NBN advising that my internet will take 2 to 3 days to be reconnected due to an issue at the exchange. I could hear considerable noise in the background - unlike usual conditions within a telephone exchange. I was encouraged to start up my home's internet and undertake certain functions. I advised that I would not comply with this request. I asked for this person's identification and was given: 1811. He advised me that all the employee's at NBN have the same identification number. I disputed this claim. Back and forwards conversation with me advising that I do not believe that his name and number was what he asserted. Call disconnected at his end. I called my telecommunications provider and advised that no work was being undertaken at the exchange regarding my telephone number.

Once I had this confirmation, I dialled the aforementioned number and was advised that there was an incoming call restriction.
