I booked what I thought was a valid AirBnB through booking.com and received a thorough explanation of how to check in, and a request for a photo of my driver's license - which I did send.
Upon arriving at the apartment the place was in an absolute state - smashed in windows and blood in the bathroom sink.

I immediately left, fearing for my safety and text the property requesting a refund to which they responded that they could refund me via PayID. I contacted booking.com and they let me know that refunding through PayID was not protocol and that it was likely an elaborate, pre-meditated attempt at identity theft.
